Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Michael Inkpen, who provides expert jewellery and watch valuations to help clients understand and protect their most valuable possessions.
To find out more about what he does and what matters most in his day-to-day work, we caught up with Michael and asked him a few questions:
What does your business do?
We undertake detailed and precise valuation reports of jewellery and watches for insurance, probate, division (gifting or selling between parties), and sometimes for those involved in division proceedings. Sometimes it’s simply for clients who want to know what their items are worth.
What problems are you solving for your clients?
Insurance companies will often insure items based on a client’s own description and assessment, which can be inaccurate. The more valuable the item, the greater the risk of it being under – or even over-insured. A professional valuation ensures the correct level of cover.
If an item is recovered after theft, a good valuation can also help identify it. Our probate valuations are accepted by HMRC and the probate Court, helping to make settling an estate a little less stressful during a difficult time. They also ensure inheritance tax is accurately assessed.
What do you like about being based here?
Modern, professional premises provide a great environment to meet clients and work quietly and efficiently without interruptions. The helpful and friendly reception staff also make it a pleasure to come to work.
